A Well-Rounded Nutty Success!

It’s been interesting to have something else to make my week’s busy, that being play practices for The Nutcracker! As I have quoted once before, practice makes progress. Our continued practice made the end result our progress! That’s how I see it anyway. This past weekend was just that, a success! If it wasn’t for the hard work all of the cast put in, we wouldn’t have a production that all our audiences enjoyed!

I am so glad it is done, but yet, I’m sad that it is done as well. My hope is to audition again for another play, if not the spring one, that is if it doesn’t conflict with my end of year dance show. This just means if I am not in the spring play, I can be a part of the next winter play! One play a year works, especially if it is a play I wish to participate in.

I do, however, have to give some credit to Steven, as he is the one who forwarded the audition email for The Nutcracker to me. He also is a part of the OYP Theatre School Thursday class, so he got the audition email first, then I got a forwarded copy… it’s all in how you find out about these things, whether it be through your own research, or people you know who are a part of such a great project, such as Steven was, and still is.

Now to focus my energy on another possible play opportunity in the not so distant future. As for now, thank you to everyone who came to see our performances this past weekend! Each and every one of you made each audience unique, which is also what theatre is about. Thank you!

Nutcracker Performances This Weekend! Yeah!

It’s getting closer… so much closer! I can feel it, the fact that I am Minstrel Sweet, breathing in my character, exhaling all the crap I am currently stressed about. Minstrel in, stress out. That’s harder than you think!

Besides the fact that I can’t use my crutches for my chaacter now, I have to use the wheelchair, all thanks to my present stage of knee. Maybe stil it is hard to grasp the possibility of me being a wheely for an unknown period of time. That;s besides the point, I am still excited regardless!

Getting organized, bit by bit. I am having adjustments made to my costume,  It has green, brown, white and some purple. It’s awesome! It even has a hat with it… I dislike hats, but I love this one!

Keep in mind, however, this hat will most likely have to be bobby pinned, to make sure  it doesn’t move around. Tonight begins the days ahead of rehearsals, and then showtime!!! I, for once in my life, love my character! She, Minstrel Sweet is almost me, to a tee!

This blog is done, and it was such fun. 🙂 Where’s my partner  in crime, Maestro Sweet? He’d say something like, to write it for all you folk. 🙂

All right, I must stop this… at once!!!

Practice, Practice, Oh, and Have I Mentioned, Practice?

Written on October 15, 2014

So, tonight Steven and I went to our rehearsal for the Nutcracker Play that is being performed at the end of November. I remember being this excited for performing in plays throughout my high school years.

I keep forgetting about how excited I get with performing in general. First, dance, now this. I have Steven to thank too! He was the one who forwarded me the audition email for the Nutcracker in the first place. So, now here I am. I even have rehearsal on my birthday, which is next Wednesday! A which is from one of the TV shows I love, that being 19 Kids and Counting, they always say; “practice makes progress,” instead of “practice makes perfect.” I agree with their saying 100%, no one is perfect, so it doesn’t make sense to strive for perfection. Instead, let’s strive for progression.

So, that is where I am at now, the practice stage.

All right, this blog is done. Must try and sleep, as I have a beginner dance class to co-teach tomorrow.
