A Close-Knit Christmas!

Good day all!!

It is officially New Years Eve, and I haven’t blogged in sooooo long!!! Steven and I had a quiet Christmas!! It was a good one though.

On Christmas Eve, we listened to our church’s livestreem for the candlelight service. What an awesome service that was!!! This was a good way to end Christmas Eve!!

Finally it was Christmas morning… we had a small-knit Christmas, but the gifts Steven and I got were a ton… very grateful!!! We also exchanged our gifts to one another. I got him a journal with his name engraved on the front and a message on the inside… I had him struck to silence, and then he cried. I could tell the gift moved him, which made me happy!! I got a canvas for me to paint on. We each had our own stockings too. Over all, a great Christmas morning!!!

Later that day, Steven’s parents brought over Christmas dinner to us. Oh my goodness… was it ever good!!! We even used the battery operated candles they gave us to add to the dinner.

All in all, a very good Christmas. Maybe next year, we’ll be able to celebrate Christmas with his family again!!! Hope everyone had an awesome Christmas, who reads this!!!

Continued Christmas fun!!!

So, still spending time with family, and now it’s Christmas Eve. Going to probably see more family after supper, which will be nice, since the last time I saw them was Thanksgiving. I’m so excited!!! Spending time with family always makes my Christmas, each year… especially this, and last year.

Christmas morning still had one tradition the same, we woke up Christmas morning to the usual Christmas morning tradition, eggs, bacon and toast. I just had the bacon and toast, and both were delicious.

After breakfast, we got ready and headed over to see my boyfriend’s grandparents, whom in my heart, I consider them my own. We spent a bit of time there before heading back to continue with the preparations of Christmas dinner.

Presents were opened before dinner this year, to make sure everyone was going to be there. Family time works  better when family can actually be there. 🙂
For gifts I got:
-Hair stuff (scrunchies, burettes etc.), and
-Pijamas

The final event on Christmas day was the huge feast. I ate turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes and carrots, along with a dinner roll. Oh my goodness, so good!!! Yum!!! I also had a homemade banana muffin for dessert, a very good idea to round out the meal.

All in all, a very well rounded Christmas, I say!

Home for Christmas Again!!!

I’m so excited that I could actually be around family I absolutely adore for the holidays again.  Due to my ups and downs with my hip, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to make it. As I sit at the kitchen table, looking out the balcony window at the backyard, I feel so wrapped up with warmth of a home and a family.

I’m so glad that I am surrounded by awesome traditions, little nephews, and Christmas chaos. That’s the joy of this time of year, especially when you feel like you belong. These are positive memories to remember and probably scrapbook, that is, if I have enough pictures for it. 🙂

Boyfriend’s family is my family. I have traditions now!!! No more being alone for Christmas anymore. I’d scoop up all the lonely people on Christmas and bring them here, to be surrounded by people and the craziness of Christmas.

FAMILY
F – Fun times around the holidays.
A – Amazing traditions that stick with you until the next year.
M – Memories made.
I – Individuals come, individuals go.
L – Love surrounds everyone, like a blanket.
Y – Years of family, from now on.

That’s what they mean to me, and this time with them. I never like to leave, but I know now, as long as it can happen, it will happen again.

So Winter is Here!

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow? Already?

So, a few days ago, my city where I live was graced with its first snowfall. Skiers love it, and in a way, I do too… except, not this early.

I love Christmas, which is why I don’t mind snow, but really, not before mid December or something. Although, now that it has, I wanna get all into the Christmas stuff.

I wish I had Christmas decorations, because I would so put them up right now… Christmas lights and all!! It’s supposed to be a mix of snow and rain the next few days, which I’m not sure I like all that much.

Can I Do Some Christmas Baking? I so Wish I Could!!

Firstly, if I wasn’t flat broke, I’d break out my dessert section of my recipe binder. I thought about, instead of doing individual gifts, doing assorted baked goods in Christmas tins.

Secondly, because of my disability, some of the recipes I’d want to bake would mean I’d need help with them. Doesn’t work so well if you’re gonna be giving them a baked goods gift box. That whole though seems so tempting to me. If only I could… because I so would!!

There’s a really interesting recipe I wanna make, for other people, of course. I might add it to the end of this. It’s Pumpkin Gingerbread, and I made it in Family Studies when I was in school.

Pumpkin gingerbread recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • 375 ml sugar
  • 125 ml vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 80 ml water
  • ½ of a 15 oz can of pumpkin puree
  • 5 ml ground ginger
  • 2 ml ground allspice
  • 2 ml cinnamon
  • 2 ml cloves
  • 425 ml flour
  • 5 ml baking soda
  • 3 ml salt
  • 1 ml baking powder

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. Lightly grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, oil and eggs; beat until smooth. Add water and beat until well blended. Stir in pumpkin, and spices.
  3. In another bowl, combine dry ingredients. Add pumpkin mixture and blend just until ingredients are mixed. Pour into prepared loaf pan.
  4. Bake in preheated oven about 1 hour.

There you have it. It is yours to do what you wish

with it. Although, I’d save it for a blistery cold winter’s day, when it’s snowing and you don’t even want to think about going out.

For now, this post is done.

My Christmas!

Christmas this year was literally jam packed. I spent Christmas Eve with my biological family, which was truly awesome! Stayed there until the afternoon of Christmas Day. I ended up sleeping at my Auntie’s house, with my cousin Ben. Even though I met him before when he was grown, I still couldn’t get the picture of him being a baby out of my head, and both him and my cousin Haydie came to my 12th birthday, and they were both smaller. Now, however, Haydie is currently living in England, and Ben is already looking into colleges for next year. Boy, have times ever changed! I still can’t believe it!

My younger brother Keith ended up making the entire Christmas dinner by himself. He’s a cook, like I am, however, I’ve never made turkey, so he has one up on me. I also got to meet my nephew Oliver for the first time, which was awesome! He’s like me, definitely not shy.

We ended up having dinner at my Grandmama and Granddad’s house, which was awesome! My grandmother has a dog, Mia. She decided to lie down between the back of the couch, and my back… too cute! Mia definitely picked my Grandma, most definitely! My biological mother’s dog is definitely independent like her owner. 🙂 She will let you pet her, if you go to her yourself. Dawn will give you a hug fi you go and give her one. It’s kinda neat to see how those two fit each other’s personalities well.

Before I left for the evening, I got a throw blanket with a bunny on it from Grandmama and Granddad… so awesome!! I’ll definitely find use for it, most definitely!

The whole time with my biological family was awesome! I definitely can’t wait for the next get together! Now that I was on my way back to Ottawa, it was time to get ready for Steven’s family gathering. I could already tell I was gonna be wiped out by the time his family gathering was done. Yet, of course, I was still excited.

The gathering ended up happening at his sister’s new house. Another Christmas dinner to be had, plus a gift exchange game. In that game, I stole a utensil set from Steven, which I was glad of. His family also had personalized stockings and gifts for us as well. All in all, an awesome evening. Although, as I figured, by the end, I was beat.

All in all, both Christmases were awesome!! I can’t wait until next Christmas, to do it all over again!

Is it Christmas Yet?

Yes, I know, for most people it is too early to even think about Christmas, but I definitely am excited for it! I actually want to decorate my house this year, which I didn’t do last, but I wanted to, nonetheless. I personally am not a fan of snow, thanks to mobility issues, but it makes Christmas feel a lot more like Christmas to me.

I already have gift ideas for this year… let’s hope I can actually follow through with them this year. Last year, sadly I couldn’t, but I am more positive about this year. Listening to Cimorelli presently, and I’m thinking at the end of this post, I’ll post one of their Christmas songs… yes, I know, still might be too early for some, but after being a co-host for my friend’s show last night, and the thought of doing a Christmas special, it kinda got me in the Christmas mood. Why, thank you!

Enjoy Cimorelli’s Christmas song I post!!

THE FIRST NOEL

Enjoy! 😀

This Christmas ramble is complete. I’ll be back with more rambles on this, I’m sure! 🙂
